A Creative Science Activity with the 6th-Grade English Class
Lava lamps were a psychedelic hit, especially among the hippie community, in the past. They were invented in 1948, but they only started being commercialized in 1963.
Nowadays, you can still buy them. Of course, they are more modern, but they still keep their charm.
If you wish, you can make a homemade lava lamp so that you can enjoy a nice science experiment and, at the same time, have lots of fun.
To make it, you will need a plastic bottle (I suggest a transparent one that is not very big, about 500 ml or 600 ml), water and oil (I suggest using half water and half oil), food coloring, and an effervescent tablet.
We did this activity in our English class with the 6th-grade students.
The students loved it!
