Lessons in Empathy: Walking Blind with the 2nd Year Class

Students from the 2nd year of High School experienced a very special and meaningful class on inclusion in sports. The aim of the activity was to raise awareness of the challenges faced by people with disabilities, especially those with visual impairments, and to encourage empathy and respect among students.

The experience began right at the classroom door, when some students were blindfolded and guided by their classmates on the way to the gym. This simple, but powerful exercise already demanded trust, communication, and responsibility between the pairs.

Once at the gym, the blindfolded students were invited to participate in sports activities in which they had to rely entirely on their teammates’ guidance, learning how much collaboration and sensitivity are required in these situations.

Through this unique experience, students not only gained a deeper understanding of the reality of athletes with disabilities, but also reflected on the importance of inclusion, solidarity, and teamwork in their own lives.
