Creating Change: 7th Grade Students Use Art to Inspire Awareness
Artivism is a movement that combines art and activism. The artist uses artistic expressions to protest and raise awareness regarding to social issues. This was a subject discussed in our English classes in the 7th grade.
We discussed about the indigenous people in Brazil, their fights and so on. And in the art class, with teacher Laura, the students developed art projects related to one of the biggest issue to the indigenous people: "the environment".
Our students were great artivists. They created beautiful sculptures. It was awesome.
