Winds of Curiosity: Maternal II Explores Air Resistance

In a fun experimental activity, the children from Maternal II gathered to blow different light and heavy objects, exploring how weight influences movement. With a variety of items at their disposal, such as feathers, cotton balls, pencils, and small stones, they were encouraged to blow each object and observe how it reacted. As they noticed that feathers and cotton balls flew easily while the small stones barely moved, the children began the discussion about weight and air resistance. This simple experiment allowed them to relate their observations to the concept of weight and the force needed to move objects, while also developing reasoning and prediction skills, essential for scientific literacy. Between laughter and discoveries, the activity also sparked scientific curiosity and English learning in a practical and fun way.

In the end, the children reflected on the importance of the force they applied when blowing. Some realized that by blowing harder, even heavier objects moved slightly, while lighter objects traveled much farther. This helped them understand that both the weight of the object and the strength of the blow influence movement.

This activity, in addition to being enjoyable, introduced basic physics concepts in an accessible way, encouraging curiosity and a desire to learn more about the world around them.
